London Scottish went down to a disappointing 15-3 defeat to Nottingham Rugby this evening after an error-strewn performance at Meadow Lane.

Conditions were not conducive to free-flowing rugby and it was an impressive display of goal kicking in the first half by Nottingham's Matt Jarvis which proved the difference between the sides.

Scottish contributed to their own downfall with ill-discipline allowing Jarvis to kick 15 first half points with Dan Newton on target for the visitors.

In a game which was always going to be low scoring, Nottingham soaked up plenty of London Scottish pressure after the interval as James Buckland's side struggled to retain possession at key moments whilst playing catch-up rugby.

Nottingham took the lead in the second minute courtesy of a Matt Jarvis penalty before the stand-off capitalised on a Scottish error soon after to nudge the hosts 6-0 ahead through another penalty.

A Jarvis kick from halfway, aided by the wind, allowed Nottingham to open up a 9-0 advantage on 15 minutes as Scottish continued to concede penalties in kickable positions.

Jarvis missed a difficult kick midway through the half before Dan Newton, at the other end, got Scottish on the board with a tough penalty into the wind.

The nine point advantage was quickly restored through Jarvis's fourth penalty and just before half-time he made it 15-3 after Scottish were penalised on their own throw in at a line-out.

Replacement James Love missed a good opportunity to narrow the gap early in the second half when his penalty hit the uprights.

With the wind advantage, Scottish piled the pressure on a Nottingham side who were happy to defend for long spells and force the errors which inevitably came from their opponents.

The Scots got close to Nottingham's try line for the very first time in the match on the hour mark but a knock-on eased the pressure on the hosts.

Nottingham's stubborn rearguard effort paid dividends as they continually fed off Scottish errors.

And despite their best efforts late-on, the Richmond outfit failed to pick up even a bonus point during what was a night to forget all round.
