On a very windy afternoon in London, Scottish welcomed local rivals Richmond to the RAG. Richmond have already been relegated but after the opening 40 minutes you would be surprised as they took complete control of the game.

It took just 13 minutes for Richmond to take the lead through Scott. They attacked down the channels and the defence just couldn’t get to them. Scottish were missing or bouncing off a lot of tackles. From a 5m line out, they moved the ball through the hands until Scott muscled his way over. Kirby converted, LSFC 0-7 Richmond.

Damant extended Richmond’s lead further just 5 minutes later. Richmond were pinging the ball around along the halfway line and the Scots defence just opened up for him, and he cantered through with nobody around him to score an easy try. Converted by Kirby, LSFC 0-14 Richmond.

Scottish started to grow into the game, Stevenson got Scottish on the scoreboard on the half hour mark. A cheeky kick over the top bounced between Beattie and Stevenson on the Richmond 10m line, Stevenson grabbed it out of the air, stepped the three defenders around him and ran 30m to score a great solo try. Barton converted, LSFC 7-14 Richmond, which is how it stayed to halftime.

Scottish were second best throughout the opening half, and were lucky to only be 7 points down, but came out firing in the second half. Stevenson & Atkinson took the game to Richmond, who struggled to contain them both.

The first flash point of the half came when Trenier pinned Vukasinovic to the floor and started punching him around the head while he was down and unable to move. After everyone waded in, the ref saw fit to send both players off much to the surprise to everyone in the stands. Having seen the replay, you have to imagine Trenier will be on the end of a lengthy ban.

It took 20 mins for Scottish to get on the scoreboard again, Atkinson crashed through the middle of the pitch to get Scottish on the front foot. The ball was recycled and sent wide, after a couple of phases Atkinson again got over the gain line, Mantella was on his shoulder, who offloaded to Stevenson who ran the final 30m to score his second of the day. Not converted, LSFC 12-14 Richmond with 17 mins left.

Just moments later, Mantella gave Scottish the lead. From the re-start, Richmond turned the ball over in the Scots 22, but were quickly turned over themselves by Harding. The ball was recycled and handed to Mantella who stepped his man and ran the full length of the pitch to score. Not converted, LSFC 17-14 Richmond.

Scottish conceded a number of soft penalties, and gifted Richmond the chance to level on the 69th minute by not releasing right in front of their posts. Kirby has scored these [penalties all season, and leveled the game 17-17 with 10 minutes to play.

Richmond put together some nice phases of play from the re-start and worked their way back to the Scots 22. From nowhere, space just opened up for Ward who just drifted into the gap and ran in an easy try. Kirby converted, LSFC 17-24 Richmond with 8 minutes left.

With just minutes left, Scottish conceded another pen in front of their posts, handing Kirby the chance to put the game out of sight. He scored without any issue, and the game ended LSFC 17-27 Richmond.

In the end, Scottish just started the game too slowly and gifted points and territory to Richmond. A disappointing end to the season, but there were stand out performances from Wynne, Atkinson and man of the match Rob Stevenson.
