The first points of the game went to Nottingham, who took the lead through Tiff Eden after he slotted home a penalty from 25m out. Nottingham were quick to build pressure on the Scottish defence and extended their lead through Eden again; working the ball well from the lineout, the ball fell to him in front of the posts for a simple try. With the conversion, Nottingham were up by 10 points in twelve minutes.

After 18 minutes, Nottingham added another try through Stevens and looked to be pulling clear; but Scottish answered right back through Ben Mosses, who created space for himself and sped to the line to open his account for the afternoon. With the conversion from Sharp, Scottish had pulled to back to 7-15.

Nottingham did their best to keep the scoreboard ticking over, and Eden contributed another three points to the score. After 33 minutes Ross Neal found the try line to cap a nice passage of play from Scottish. Sharp converted to bring Scottish within 4 points of Nottingham with 5 minutes remaining in the half.

Scottish began to apply more & more pressure, and worked the ball out wide to Mosses again just before the half finished, to allow him to touch down for his second of the afternoon. At halftime, Scottish went in with a slender lead, 21-18.

The second half was a little more stop-start to begin with, with both teams unable to put anything together. Ten minutes into the second half, Neal scored his second of the afternoon; the ball was worked well through the hands, and he made a dart for the line through the Nottingham defence after great work from Joe Atkinson. LSFC 26-18 Nottingham.

This kicked Nottingham into gear and they began to attack and apply pressure; working the ball well through the hands. A catch-and-drive from a 5m lineout, to allow replacement hooker Ben Brownlie to touch-down, brought Nottingham within a point; LSFC 26-25 Nottingham.

Into the final fifteen minutes, Nottingham looked like they might run away with the game after they got the ball out wide to Cobden who sped into the corner for his try. LSFC 26-33 Nottingham.

This set the game up for an incredible final ten minutes; with the unbelievable noise from the crowd urging Scottish on, they worked the ball through the phases, keen to hold onto the ball as long as possible. The pressure they applied eventually paid off; Nottingham gave away a penalty, Sio being sinbinned in the process; and Scottish got the ball out wide quickly, to allow Holland to score. The conversion was rushed and missed, so with 2 minutes on the clock, the score was LSFC 31-33 Nottingham.

Scottish collected the re-start and had to work the ball from their own 22; they went through the phases, and got down to the Nottingham try line – the crowd noise & excitement increasing to incredible levels. 84 minutes gone… a drive from 5m out looked to have given them the lead… but the referee, after consulting with his assistant disagreed & blew for full time. LSFC 31 – 33 Nottingham Rugby.
