Trailfinders are welcomed back to the RAG as Cringle brings up 50

Ealing Trailfinders are this week’s opponents for London Scottish in Round 3 of the Championship Cup as Friday night rugby returns to the RAG, just two weeks since the memorable win over Richmond in Round 1.

This Cup group game will also be a special one for tighthead prop Phil Cringle who will bring up his 50thappearance for the Scots after 3 seasons with the club. Cringle joined from French side US Carcassonne in 2016 and has been a consistent performer for the Exiles ever since.

Last weekend’s tough trip to Jersey and the 41-10 loss is something that Scottish will be looking to rectify this Friday as the Trailfinders make the short trip over Kew Bridge to the RAG.

Head Coach Nic Rouse has been forced into a few changes from the Reds game after Craig Duncan, Matt Davidson, Matt Marley & Ollie Dawe all picked up injuries.

The Scots have brought in winger Elliott Obatoyinbo from Gallagher Premiership side Saracens to cover the injuries in the backline and he starts on the wing.

50 cap man Cringle will partner Pete Austin and Jordan Brodley in the front row with Richard Palframan, Jared Saunders and Jimmy Litchfield named on the bench.

Byron Hodge returns to the starting XV after being named on the bench last weekend and partners Loughborough alumni Theo Vukasinovic in the second row.

The back row has undergone a slight reshuffle with Luke Frost moving onto the blindside, Matt Eliet shifting to openside flanker with the ever-present Mark Bright leading the side from the base of the scrum.

Ed Hoadley continues at scrum half after scoring the exiles’ solitary try last weekend. Jacob Perry continues at fly half for the fifth straight game. Rory Jennings could return from suspension next weekend after a 5-week ban.

Ben Mosses remains at inside centre and is partnered by Scotland international Richie Vernon who replaces Matt Davidson.

Saracens winger Elliott Obatoyinbo starts on the left wing replacing Craig Duncan. Miles Mantella starts on the right wing and Joe Luca Smith starts his twelfth straight game this season at full back.

Miles Wakeling is again named among the replacements after making his debut for the Scots last weekend across the channel. London Scottish Lions captain Fraser Lyle is called upon to sit on the bench for the exiles this weekend due to a growing injury list.
