Tighthead prop Phil Cringle will bring up his 50th appearance for the Scots this weekend in Round 3 of the Championship Cup as the Scots take o Ealing Trailfinders at The Athletic Ground.

Cringle has been a consistent fixture in the London Scottish squad since his arrival back in 2016 when he joined the Scots from French side US Carcassonne.

In his first season at the RAG, Cringle made 16 appearances before making 23 appearances last season as he battled for game time with Dino Waldren and Ewan McQuillin.

So far Phil has notched up nine appearances this season, only missing two matches which is impressive for a player in such a gruelling and abrasive position.

Before moving over to France and spending two seasons there, the former Edinburgh player made a remarkable 19 appearances for Scotland Under 20s and caught the eye with some impressive performances at the Junior World Cup in New Zealand.

Born in the Isle of Man, Cringle is proud of his homeland and will frequently return to his family farm when rugby commitments allow him. Any spare time he has, Cringle will be out helping his father with the daily farming duties.

Cringle was pleased to be bringing up the feat this weekend against the Trailfinders.

“I am proud to get my 50th cap for London Scottish. This is my third season with the club and in that time I have seen a lot of change but have also got to know some of the great people in and around the club which makes Scottish the great club it is. It is also special to have my family over from the Isle of Man to enjoy this occasion with me.”

Cringle has been a credit to London Scottish since his arrival. A vibrant member of the 1st XV squad and a reliable and consistent performer out on the field. Everyone at London Scottish would like to congratulate Phil in reaching his 50th appearance.

Phil is sponsored this season by Rob and Rachel Kerr
