We are pleased to announce that London Scottish will be holding its own Armistice Centenary Commemoration as part of this Friday’s opening round Championship cup clash with Richmond.

We are pleased to announce that London Scottish will be holding its own Armistice Centenary Commemoration as part of this Friday’s opening round Championship cup clash with Richmond.

The programme of events is as follows (this can also be found inside the matchday programme tomorrow evening):

19.30: Pre-match dinner in the Members Bar ends. Dinner guests will move to the Saltire Stand and Tartan Terrace to participate in the Centenary Commemoration. Pipers will begin playing.

19.35: The turnstile leading to the Saltire Stand and Tartan Terrace will be closed. Spectators not already past the turnstiles by 19.35 will be asked to delay going through until 19.55 so as to avoid disturbing the solemn proceedings.

19.35: Commencement of Centenary Celebration :

  • Pipes and Drums of the London Scottish Regiment and the Tayforth Officers Training Corps
  • Reading of the names of the members of both London Scottish and Richmond who gave their lives in the Great War
  • Laying of wreaths

19.55: Two minutes silence in memory of The Fallen

20.00: Championship Cup game starts

The club would like to encourage all those planning to attend the game to arrive before 19.30 so that they can participate in this momentous event.

Over one hundred members of London Scottish gave their lives in the Great War. We are not aware of any other rugby club which suffered such a significant loss.
