Gregor Michie

It is with much sadness that we report the death of Gregor Michie on 19th October at the age of 70.

It is with much sadness that we report the death of Gregor Michie on 19th October at the age of 70.

Sir David Reid, our former Chairman, and a great friend of Gregor for over 50 years pays tribute to him.

Gregor was a long-standing London Scottish member, investor and supporter and a regular attender on match day.

He was a gentle, charming and kind man, with good humour and a twinkle in the eye.  Behind that he was a strong and nicely stubborn character befitting of his roots from the ‘Granite City’.

He had a distinguished career, being educated at Fettes College and Aberdeen University, he qualified as a Scottish Accountant in Scotland then moving to London he worked with much success as an Investment Banker, with Morgan Grenfell.

He was a keen golfer and member at Royal Wimbledon, he and his friends much enjoyed many of the great golf courses in Scotland, with tours regularly linked to rugby internationals at Murrayfield.

Although not known to many, he had been fighting illness for many years, with no complaint and showing huge determination and resilience until last week, when he passed away. He will be sorely missed at the Athletic Ground – not the stand for Gregor, the terraces being his preferred location for cheering on his team.

MPU

Gregor – there will always be a place in our hearts for you at London Scottish.

Finally, our thoughts are with his wife Sue, his three daughters, Annabel, Philippa and Catherine and his younger brother Donald.
