Minis and Juniors Registration Day

This past Sunday was an unprecedented success at our Minis and Juniors registration day, the culmination of great weather, 1st XV squad presence and the relentless hard work by our volunteers, resulting in a great experience for all.

There were some fantastic sessions being run by our volunteer coaching team from our Under 18s boys and girls all the way down to our newest addition of the Club, the LSFC Micros.

1st Xv players Josh Barton, Richie Vernon, Grayson Hart and Tjiuee Uanivi were hard at work on the Cairnhill Passing Cage which made an appearance as part of the ‘Meet the Players’ day, which included a barbecue and Tug of War. It was an amazing opportunity for members and players alike to meet and socialise with the London Scottish community.

All in all, it was brilliant day was had by all thanks to the continued hard work of the people across the club. With our first event being a success, it is all but assured that the upcoming Minis Festival will be equally well delivered. Massive thanks to Sarah Mackernan, Pietro Crescini, Ian Hannah, Tim Lawn and Iain Whyte for their respective help!

August Summer Camp

Our first Camp of the season, I am pleased to report has been our most successful to date. Thanks to some excellent engagement by our Minis section, the camp saw a marked increase in attendance which made for a much more enjoyable experience for our young members.

In keeping with our ‘Skills-Passport’ the LSFC camps will have a distinct focus on key elements of the game with the aim of developing our young athletes to play the game to the best of their ability in an enjoyable and safe environment.

Kicking things off we began with our Contact Clinic in preparation for the new season we want our Minis to be as prepared as possible for whatever it may throw at them. There was a great deal of enthusiasm from 1stXV guest coaches, Jimmy Litchfield and Matt Davidson who ran a fantastic although muddy session. Having joined the club over the summer both have made an instant impression on our minis who I’m sure will be forming a fan club for the pair this season. Our camps Continue in October half term which is available for booking right away via our website.

Touch Rugby

Touch rugby has been running all summer at Old Deer Park, our inclusive sessions have included participants from ages 6 – 60 of all abilities! For those who were unaware touch rugby meet every Monday night from 19:00 and is included as part of your membership to London Scottish.

We have had some great success in creating a fun club where people can join in to keep fit in a sociable setting.

But we also have some exceptional young talent in Freya Aucken and Harry Hardman who both represented England in the national touch championships coming home with Silver and Bronze for their respective teams. Well done to both, and we only hope that they can apply that international experience into their performances for London Scottish this coming season!
