It is with great sadness that we announce that Alastair McLaggan passed away on Thursday 2nd August.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Alastair McLaggan passed away on Thursday 2nd August.

Alastair was born in Edinburgh, grew up in Dundee, and was transferred to London in the 60s with the Bank of Scotland. Alastair’s career in banking took him to Buenos Aires and New York before eventually settling back in London, where he worked for the Bank of Detroit for many years and became a passionate supporter of London Scottish.

Alastair has been a member of Scottish for the last 20+ years, travelling across the country to support the club on the ‘Incredible Journey’, and could often be found cheering on the boys in blue with his friends on the Tartan Terrace. Alastair returned to Edinburgh five years ago but frequently made the journey down to Richmond to support the team. Alastair had many friends at the club and will be sorely missed by his family and his friends.

This Saturday before the first game of the season, those who knew Alastair are invited to the function room upstairs in The Hope (115-117 Kew Road) from 12:30 where we will raise a glass in his honour before heading to the game at 14:30.

Alastair was looked after by Marie Curie for the last two months of his life, and his son Calum will be running the Buenos Aires Marathon on 23rd September to raise funds for the charity.
