Hall of Famer and returning back rower Mark Bright has been named as the captain for London Scottish for the upcoming 2018/19 Greene King IPA Championship.

Hall of Famer and returning back rower Mark Bright has been named as the captain for London Scottish for the upcoming 2018/19 Greene King IPA Championship.

Bright has returned to the Exiles this season after leaving the club for two seasons with Ealing Trailfinders at Vallis Way.

A veteran of the Championship and a former England 7s player, Bright was both pleased and humbled to have been given the role as captain for the upcoming season.

“I am very happy to have been named as captain for London Scottish for the new season. I am really looking forward to leading the boys out for the first time again at the RAG.”

Bright continued, “The club has a special place in my heart and it is great to be back. We have had a really good pre-season and the boys are looking sharp, especially after our trip up to Scotland.”

The former Championship Player of the Season rounded off with a message for the Exile supporters. “After all the hard work we have put in this pre-season and with some of the notable players we have added to the squad, I hope the supporters are excited about coming down to The Athletic Ground and getting behind the lads throughout the season.”

Bright is a legend of London Scottish having played more than 120 games for the club in his first spell for the club and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016 when he originally left the club.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris was very satisfied with the decision to make Mark skipper for the new season.

“Mark cares deeply about the club, he and his family have a long association with the club. He sets high standards for not only himself but for others through his actions and work ethic but maybe most importantly, his decision making and game management during matches is outstanding.”

“The pleasing thing about this announcement was that there were a few possible contenders for the captaincy but we feel Mark was the stand out candidate.”

Morris finished by saying, “Mark has the respect of the whole squad, the staff and London Scottish supporters and we look forward to him leading us out for the exciting season ahead.”
