Fly half Jacob Perry has agreed to swap Hartpury College for London Scottish for the 2018/19 season.

Perry has been an integral part of Hartpury’s rise up the National Leagues over the last few years. This will be the twenty three year old’s first preseason away from Hartpury in seven years. Perry was the fly half who orchestrated Hartpury’s unbeaten run to the National One title in 2016/17 releasing the likes of Levi Davis and Jonas Mikalcius on their opponents and Perry himself was a prolific point scorer, amassing 235 points in Hartpury’s title season.

This season Perry has been another standout figure in Hartpury’s debut Greene King IPA Championship season. The Bristolian has fought with James Williams all year for the starting 10 jersey and has made an impression for his tactical in-play kicking and accurate goal kicking plus his ball-playing ability.

The former England Student and Bristol Rugby A-League representative was excited for the change of scenery and new full-time experience with the Exiles. “I’m really excited to be joining London Scottish and becoming part of a club with big history. It’s a big change for me personally after moving from Hartpury where I have played my rugby since I was sixteen. Hopefully, this move will allow me to develop further as a player and a person. I am really looking forward to getting stuck into a new challenge and can’t wait for the season to start, hopefully it is a successful one.”

Fly Half has been a big void for Director of Rugby Dave Morris and new Head Coach Nic Rouse after the conclusion of the 2017/18 season with Jake Sharp off to newly promoted Coventry and Basil Strang and Babcock Cup representative Owain Davies both leaving the Exiles. Perry will add some much needed depth and will be competing with Rory Jennings for the starting berth.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris was happy to add another fly half to his side for the upcoming campaign. “Jacob is a fine fly half, he controls the game very well and his natural kicking game, both tactically and from the tee, is superb. He has an attacking mentality with a skillset to match. He was the 10 for the phenomenal Hartpury side that swept all before them in winning RFU National One and now has proved himself in the Championship too. He is ambitious and has great experience already for a young player.”
