Welsh flanker Matthew Marley will head out to Sydney, Australia in hope to play some regular rugby during the off season, in one of the world’s premier club competitions.

Marley, who has just finished his second season with the Scots, will head to Sydney in Australia to join the Northern Suburbs on the North Shore of Sydney in the Shute Shield competition. The Shute Shield has been a breeding ground for many established players and many Internationals. Most recently ex-London Scot Auguy Slowik went and played for the Shoremen and came back to sign for Jersey Reds during the course of this season. Northern Suburbs are a very reputable side down under after winning the 1st Grade trophy two seasons ago and making the grand final last year.

Marley has made twenty nine appearances for Scottish including seventeen games in the 2017/18 campaign. An impressive quota despite the impressive fellow back rowers Scottish had in their squad this year with the likes of Joe Atkinson, Danny Kenny, Matt Eliet and Chris Walker.

The Welsh age grade International joined London Scottish after being with the Cardiff Blues Academy and after a notable preseason trial before the 2016/17 season, impressing in games against Blackheath and Saracens, he signed his first contract with Scottish.

Twenty two year old Marley will head out to Australia this week to explore another rugby opportunity and broaden his rugby knowledge, before returning to the UK after the conclusion of the Shute Shield in late 2018.
