Scots wish Ross Doneghan all the best as he departs playing/coaching role at the club

After three years of either playing or coaching at London Scottish, Ross Doneghan will leave the club to focus on other opportunities.

He was part of the 1st XV squad during the 2013/15 season, and also played for the Highlanders in a famous victory v Blackheath in Shield 1.

Injury cut short his rugby playing days, but he turned to coaching and started with some community coaching, the Junior Academy and then Skills School and then got a chance to coach the Highlanders as head coach.

His time coaching the Highlanders saw a number of players get opportunities in the first team which is testament to his ability to spot talent.

Phil Stokes- Convenor of Amateur Rugby was full of praise for Doneghan’s influence:

It is testament to Ross Doneghan’s coahing that six players from his squad made their first XV debut this year with Josh Barton turning out as an exciting prospect for the firsts next year.  I cannot thank him enough for the work he has done both on and off the pitch, which has massively contributed to a incredibly successful 2016/2017 season for senior amateur rugby.  I have no doubt Ross’s future in rugby is a bright one and he will always be welcome back at London Scottish.

Doneghan thanked the club for the opportunity:

MPU

Thanks to London Scottish for three amazing years at the club. Truly a life changing experience and one I’ll always appreciate. From playing my first game with young blood against Saracens to seeing the Highlanders beat Blackheath with the last play of the game, to say it’s been emotional is an understatement. Good luck to everyone at LSFC for the upcoming season.

Everyone at London Scottish wishes Ross the best of luck, and will welcome him back at any time!
