Director of Rugby Sean Lineen was full of praise for his side after a successful pre-season trip to Edinburgh.

With the main focus of improving the Scottish connection, the players were given a task in small groups to reach Edinburgh with a limited budget before a training session against Heriot’s on Tuesday evening.

“We have a huge amount of new players so split them up in to groups of four and they had 12 hours to get here. Some of the stories are great so everyone really bought in to it.” Said Lineen.

He added: “It was great for bonding but also we managed to build on our rugby which is of huge importance. 18 of our team against Blackheath are aged 21 or younger so any experience we can get is ideal.”

After two hours of units there was a semi-contact match which gave both teams ideal preparation for the season ahead.

“Heriot’s have been fantastic and we’re hugely appreciative of their assistance for this trip, it was very beneficial for our players and great to see some of the supporters turning up to watch.

It’s crucial to keep up the connection with Scottish Rugby, London Scottish is a part of it and the players in Scotland know that if they are good enough they can get the opportunity to come to London and play in the Championship which could be crucial for their development.”

The players then had a day in Edinburgh to sample the festival, before heading back to London to prepare for the match against Saracens next week.

“The boys enjoyed exploring the city and seeing the sights but now the focus is on Saracens. “It will be a great test for us and I’m sure the players will learn a huge amount from playing against a quality team.”
