Graeme Porteous died in February 2015 in a tragic skiing accident in Italy at the young age of 48.

London Scottish supporters and members will remember Graeme from his time with the Club in the 1990s prior to professionalism.

After a senior career with Edinburgh University and Bedford, Graeme moved to London and was a member of the 1st and 2nd XV squads during the early 90s.  He was a versatile utility back, mainly used at fly half or centre, and was a regular in the highly successful LSFC Sevens teams of that era.

Graeme had always planned to do something challenging to mark his 50th birthday in September this year, and in honour of his memory his wife, Alex, formed an Organising Committee of his friends to do just this.

Graeme was a passionate supporter of the sport for development charity, The Change Foundation – http://www.thechangefoundation.org.uk. To raise funds for this award-winning charity, a gruelling 450 mile cycle from Edinburgh to London is being held to raise funds for the charity and bring together as many of his friends as possible, from his time both in Scotland and England. Following the cycle will be a dinner and auction in London. The events aim to raise £50,000.

The Cycling Event – 26th – 30th September 2016
This will be a five-day 450 mile cycle from Edinburgh Castle to the Olympic Stadium in London. A core group of 20 riders (led by Alex Porteous) will complete the full distance with additional riders involved for lesser periods. All the riders will cover their own costs and be raising sponsorship. Former London Scottish players who will be cycling include Iain Kennedy, John MacDonald Brown and Chris Welsh.

Charity Dinner – 1st October 2016
A Black Tie dinner will take place at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham on the evening of 1st October 2016 that will include silent and live Auctions. The cost will be £90 per person, £850 for a table of 10 and £1020 for a table of 12.
Strong contingents from London Scottish, Edinburgh University, Cambridge University and Prospect House have already committed to the Dinner.

If you wish to attend the Dinner or assist in obtaining items for the auctions please contact Iain Kennedy – iain.a.kennedy@icloud.com or Tessa Rouse tessarouse@thechangefoundation.org.uk.
