London Scottish Extra Bs secured their place in the MMT Division Three end of season play-offs on Saturday after a thrilling 19-19 draw at home to Twickenham III.

A late try from skipper Nick Dunne which rescued a draw for Scottish was enough to see them into the semi-finals at the expense of Twickenham.

They will now play British Airways in the play-offs on Saturday, March 28.

The Extra Bs got on the scoreboard first.

Dunne gathered his own clever chip kick on the 22, beat several defenders, before offloading to Johnny Newman who scored under the posts.

Dunne added the conversion to give the Extra Bs a 7-0 lead.

Twickenham replied soon after with some strong running from their impressive back-row to level scores 7-7 at the break.

Twickenham got off to a great start in the second half with some impressive running from their outside centre before taking the lead making the score 7-14.

The Extra Bs rallied and scored a pushover over try through Ed Bromley-Martin, converted by Nick Dunne to level the match 14-14.

The Twickenham response was again immediate with an unconverted try restoring their lead at 14-19.

The Extra Bs then mounted sustained pressure on the Twickenham line where they were held up over the line on several occasions before some smart pick and go running from Dunne led to him scoring the vital final try of the match.

The conversion was missed but the draw means progress to the play-off semi-finals against British Airways on the 28th of March.

Three man of the match awards for the Extra Bs for what was a great team effort!

Andy Drummond-Moray: Great defence from full-back.

Ed Rainford: Tireless support play from hooker.

The Extra Bs next match is at Richmond Athletic Ground this Saturday in a traditional friendly against Gordonstoun Old Boys, 1pm kick-off.
