London Scottish were well represented at the Floodlit 7s last night whilst taking on the Army in their first round of the tournament.

We were in Pool B which consisted of LSFC, The Army and Saracens. The 1st round against the Army which kicked off at 6:40pm was a victory 19 – 12 folllowed by 2nd round against Saracens at 8:00pm.

Chris Wright – the 2nd XV Manager of LSFC and 7s coach said of the boys performance: “The boys at Scottish put on a powerful and fast paced performance which was hugely encouraging as the boys had had minimal preparation for the tournament. A makeshift side was put together with players from the 1st XV and those that came out of the woodwork for the 7s season! The fact that we defeated an Army side that mainly consisted of huge Fijiians was a fantastic achievement and allowed us to move onto the next round more assertive and confident in our ability.”

The boys next opposition (Saracens) was a fairly hefty defeat – the scoreline not reflective of the boys performance (0 – 30); however it was no surprise and not expected we could win against a Premiership side who also made the final against the ‘Dig Deep England 7s’ side that took the title for the event, who beat Saracens 17 – 5.

Thanks goes to the Scottish supporters who came down and cheered on the boys, hopefully you had a great evening at Rosslyn Park and enjoyed some great rugby!

The Scottish squad consisted of:Oli Brown, Nick Taft, Kimi Vudro, Callum Grant, Scott Hadden, Rory Damant, Chris Rose, Charlie Baffour, Huw Bevan.
