London Scottish Rugby Camp sees 60 future stars of the game

The recent London Scottish Rugby Camp saw over 60 stars of the future descend on the Athletic Ground in Richmond this week.

The recent London Scottish Rugby Camp saw over 60 stars of the future descend on the Athletic Ground in Richmond this week.

The three day course was headed up by Community Development Manager Lee Rust, with London Scottish Head Coach Brett Taylor and 1st XV coaches Dean Sutton and Simon Amor all running sessions. A whole host of 1st XV players also ran position specific sessions over the 3 days including Mark Soden, Paul Volley, Alex Karonias, Rory Damant, Willie Lipp and James Brown.
Lee Rust comments, “We don’t run a large number of camps per year so when we do we always ensure we have the best possible line up of coaches. We obviously want to ensure that camps are a huge amount of fun with game based enjoyment, but we also ensure they are centred around player development and not just a child care facility. The players worked with a variety of coaches over the 3 days, from the RFU, to our club community coaches, to the London Scottish 1st XV coaches (some of whom work with national teams), and even our conditioning coaches and physios. It’s a recipe that we think gives the most to youngsters, no matter what level or age they are at. We’ve certainly had no complaints!”
Brett Taylor, Head Coach of London Scottish, adds, “London Scottish is built around a ‘One Club’ ethos – it’s great to see guys like Soden and Volley turning out to pass their knowledge on to the next generation of players. As part of our ever growing community scheme, we are hoping to replicate the success of this camp in each of the school holidays.”
Keep an eye out for our up and coming camp dates.
