In Memory of William (Bill) MacDonald

In Memory of William (Bill) MacDonald

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Bill passed away on Tuesday 13 January 2009 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Bill passed away on Tuesday 13 January 2009 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bill was an ardent supporter (and fundraiser) of the club. He began supporting London Scottish when his son Magnus started playing at the club in 1992, having found a part of his native Bettyhill in a corner of West London. He would quite often be found on a Saturday afternoon watching London Scottish in the company of the Wallace Wanderers usually with a Gin and Tonic close to hand. Being a good amateur footballer in his early years, he never played rugby, though, that never stopped him from bending the ears of a few players and referees in the bar after a match (quite often during it too!).

Bill was an architect by trade, a job that he hugely enjoyed, and was known as a generous and honest man. London Scottish was one of his passions in life and even when in hospital fighting the cancer, he was still finding members for the club.

He leaves behind Jan, Clancy, Magnus, Juliette, Pete, and many friends.

The Funeral will be held at Mortlake Crematorium on Friday 23rd January at 1100, then back to the Members bar at London Scottish.

Anyone who knew Bill is very welcome to come. Please let us know if you are planning to attend by sending an email to magnusmacd@aol.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The family has asked that rather than sending flowers, they would prefer you make a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Charity or to a London Scottish Development Squad fund being set up in Bills name to help support the younger players.

You can donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Charity by going to www.justgiving.com/williammacdonald

If you would like to send a donation for the Development Squad, please could you send it to the Funeral Directors, payable to London Scottish, leaving your name and address on the back of the cheque, and also Bill’s name.
