
Five minutes later Scottish opened their account when flanker Ben Lonergan took a misplaced throw by the Rosslyn Park hooker at the tail of a line out in the home sides 22m and raced through to score just to the right of the posts. Fly half Craig Ratford converted to put Scottish 3 - 7 up. Scottish increased their lead on the half hour mark when Rosslyn Park were penalised for handling the ball in the ruck. Ratford converted from 40 metres out to put Scottish 3 -10 ahead.
Unfortunately for the young Scottish side this was to be the high spot in the match, as from here on the Rosslyn Park 1st XV outfit took full control of the match. The home side scored two further trys before half time, converting one of them to put them 20 - 10 ahead at the break. The second half was an anti-climax for the Scottish side as the Rosslyn Park side totally dominated the match. Five further try's were scored in the second half by Rosslyn Park to leave the final score 55 - 17. The match was a feisty affair in patches with two Rosslyn Park and one Scottish player receiving a yellow card.
For the Scottish XV there will be many things to take from this match as they faced a Rosslyn Park side that were close to finalising pre-season preparations in advance of their first league match of the season against Blackheath. Scottish now move on to their final pre-season match away to Esher next Saturday and look out for the match preview which will appear on the website later in the week.
