SCOTLAND A and FRANK HADDEN VISIT LONDON SCOTTISH on THURSDAY 24th MAY

All members, supporters, families and kids are invited to a special open day at London Scottish attended Frank Haddenby the Scotland A Churchill Cup Squad and Coach Frank Hadden.

There will be an exciting specialist skills coaching session with the squad for youngsters and the following is happening;

* Meet the Scotland A squad
* Special Coaching masterclass
* Autographs signings
* Q & A about Scottish Rugby
* Preview of Churchill Cup match v England Saxons
* 2-5pm Bar, Café open for and refreshments
* LSFC Academy coaching and advice

Next Season's fixtures

The new fixture list is out and can be seen in full here.

Scottish open their campaign in National 3 South with a home match against Luton, who won Midland 1 last season - the equivalent achievement of Scottish winning London 1.

However the first big draw will be the next weekend when Scottish travel to Rosslyn Park, whom we first played - and beat - in 1888, or possibly earlier...!

Other highlights for your diaries will be the return match at home to Park on December 22 - which will almost make up for not playing a Christmas game against Richmond - and the fixtures with Ealing on 10 November (a) and the return on 8 March when the club will also be televising the Calcutta Cup from Murrayfield.

Another day to set aside is 27 October. The week after the World Cup Final, Scottish travel all the way to Penzance to play Mounts Bay, winners of South West 1 last season, and we suspect a long weekend with optional golf might be on the agenda for the travelling supporters!

There is also a new points system to get used to: 4 for a win, 2 for a draw, and bonus points for either scoring four tries or losing by fewer than 7 points. The number of permitted substitutes is increased from three to four.

Pre-season training

Official start is June 18 but fitness coach Dean Sutton is giving players a training plan for the intervening weeks.

As we embark on National League rugby once again we are looking for players in a handful of key positions. So if you want to trial for the club please click here to email the coaching team

A new member is born ...

Congratulations to Lee Soper and Mrs S who at the weekend produced baby Louis, who weighed in at 7lbs.
We will wait until they have left the hospital to get his junior membership!!

PHYSIO AND GENERAL MANAGER COMPLETE MARATHON

In case the nerves and anxiety of the promotion push weren't enough, Physio Russell Kesley and General Manager Nick Evans celebrated by running and completing the London Marathon. Running in aid of Notting Hill Housing Trust and for the homeless in London, Nick completed it in 3 hours and 50 mins and Russell in 5 hours and 6 mins. On
completing the race both were said to be 'very happy but 'very knackered'. Thanks are passed on to all who sponsored Nick for the run through Justgiving.com - or through the club - much appreciation.

Nick the Night - another London Marathon Runner from London Scottish

Due to work commitments, Nick Pinder was unable to run the marathon on the day but instead ran it the night before: "Basically, I was desperate to run the race on Sunday. Unfortunately I was working for Lucozade Sport at the exhibition on Saturday and at the finish line on race day itself which ruled me out of a place. As a result I decided to run the whole 26.2 mile course the night
before on my own, with the support of friends and family in cars alongside"

He completed it in 4hrs 21mins despite running it without crowds cheering him on, a few wrong turns and drunken pedestrians - some might say an even greater achievement! He is raising money for Access Sport "So far I am up to around £700 (not including the tax relief extras to go on top) but it would be great to try and push this up to the big £1,000".

So if anyone can make any further donations to his very worthy cause, can you access this link and make a generous payment! Thanks!

A scratchy performance and a close score for a while, but none of that mattered as Scottish got the win they needed to win the division and earn a spot in National League Division 3 South next season. Ealing will join them if they win a play-off against Cleve.

Max makes Scotland Sevens ...

Max Evans, who starred for London Scottish at full back and wing last season was selected for the Scotland 7s squad for the IRB Sevens in Hong Kong and Adelaide. Talented all-rounder Max has spent this season at Glasgow Warriors having left Scottish last spring,  initially to try and qualify to play on the European golf tour.

Pay this man to take a hike ..!
Seriously... our very own Nick Evans, still relatively fresh (!) from his last exertions, is now taking on the London Marathon challenge on behalf of homeless charity Notting Hill Housing Trust ... so please sponsor him for the gruelling 26.2 mile trawl (or does he mean "crawl") around Town; go to www.justgiving.com/nicholasedwardevans or call him on 0208 940 8289 to sponsor. Much appreciation to all who have supported.

This time it was Ealing's turn to slaughter Guildford and replace Worthing in second spot. A win for Scottish at Staines mean we go up and Ealing will be favourites to come second and go into a play-off against the runners-up from South West 1. If Scottish lose Ealing could still pip them to the title if they win big and conceivably Worthing could do the same and relegate Scottish to third... so let's think positively!

Calcutta Cup Day at London Scottish  - fantastic day with 270 for lunch in the big marquee and after most had trooped off to HQ for the game there, a good crowd gathered in front of the big screen to watch the boy Jonny destroy Scotland's dream ... Gavin Hastings may remember saying on Tuesday at a private meeting of club members and friends to launch the Clydesdale Bank sponsorship initiative that England made a huge error selecting England's record points scorer: he went on to say "It is in Scotland's interest to keep him on the pitch as long as possible". Thanks for the wise words Gavin !!

London Scottish 104 Guildford 7 London Div One       report     table

Despite six injuries forcing changes in position and tactics on the hoof throughout the game, Scottish achieved a very special double - a ton of points against the same opponents TWICE in the same season ... What might they have achieved if two players hadn't gone off in the 2nd minute, and only 14 been left on for the last quarter?

Elsewhere Worthing edged Barnes by 8 and Ealing had a gentle win at Staines but the Scots will have impressed the rest.
