Congratulations to the second team that beat Cambridge Uni last Monday. No mean achievement, and shows the quality of player we have in the club. I realise that they want to play first team rugby but the performances put in on Monday show any player could seamlessly move into the 1st team and perform.
As with all my notes I try and inform what is going on in the club, the ONE CLUB process. This week I want to Focus on the Elite Academy
The Club Elite Academy was set up this Summer to replace the SRU Academy, which ceased as a result of the funding being stopped. The aim is to identify potential 1st XV players from age groups U13 - U18 and provide an Elite Conditioning and Core Skills programme to enhance their development.

REVIEWS AND NOMINATIONS
The Elite Academy is reviewed each month. Club coaches can nominate players to be assessed for selection into the Academy process. The coaches have to submit nomination forms by a certain date. The Skills and Conditioning Assessment will take place the following Wednesday. If a player is successful he will be asked to attend the remaining sessions.
An unsuccessful player will be informed of his work ons. This does not mean he can’t be nominated the following month for assessment.
The target is to have 30 players in the Elite Academy by the end of next season.
