Having now been given my own programme notes, and very honoured I am too! It provides me with the opportunity to explain and outline some of the processes being put into place to develop the ONE CLUB process. The history and the heritage along with the ambition of London Scottish is what really attracted me to take on the role, but not just the ambition of the senior part of the club, the whole club........ONE CLUB. Last year it was the club that got promoted not just one team. Not many clubs have a comprehensive mini, junior, social, senior and community program working together. Here is the vision, a seamless pathway of development, tracking, performance and enjoyment from 7 upwards.
One part of the ONE CLUB process is the Masterclass held prior to the game by myself for mini age groups. I really enjoy this opportunity to coach the young players and talk to the coach’s. It brings the club together in a simple way, as the young players get to experience the match day experience. It also acts as a good recruitment tool as players can invite friends to attend the masterclass and see what London Scottish is all about and sign up on a Sunday.
Apart from meeting the young players and them putting a face to a name; the process is important for me developing the relationship with the age group coach’s. They have to inform me the areas they want to work on in the session and I plan accordingly. This makes the session meaningful and not some sugar shot one off. This session is then debriefed at the coach the coach session the following week.............for another day!
That then leads me to thank the u6 / u7 players parents and coaches that took part in today’s masterclass.
