It's been a rough 3 weeks for us and we have learnt some serious lessons as a squad. The Launceston defeat was a tough pill to swallow, but it was a tight game played in atrocious conditions against a top of the table team, so losing by a point, whilst disappointing, wasn't a catastrophe. It was our Stourbridge performance that has led us to take a long hard look at ourselves. We turned up there expecting an easy ride and a bonus point win to get us back on track. That certainly wasn't the case and we were well beaten for our naivety.
This season has been great for us as we've shown we can compete at championship level which I am sure will please coaches, players, supporters and stakeholders. What we have also been able to reflect on is that we still possess the immaturity of a side that has been promoted and is trying to race through the divisions. Just because we have beaten all opposition except Esher doesn't give us a divine right to beat them again. We are learning, and we will be stronger for it next year, whatever the division we play in.
