Welcome to today’s crucial top of the table clash versus our old rivals Ealing. These are usually great encounters with a large noisy crowd and with the stakes so high, today will be no different.
We haven’t seen a lot of rugby here over the past few weeks, the last game was Richmond at home and it was great to see a crowd of over 2,000. I hope that today will be near that figure.
There is so much competition in the area for sports events, it is a real challenge to build a decent matchday crowd. Our gates in comparison to other National league’s are very good, however it is crucial to increase them for the next step up. An average gate of 2,000-3,000 is our target – how will we get this with Harlequins down the road and so much in the way of competition in London? |

Welcome all to the classic annual derby versus rivals and co tenants, Richmond FC. It promises to be a fantastic occasion and, with so much league rugby missed due to the weather and cup commitments, it really is a crucial day.
Today is our 1st home league match since 6th December, so nearly 6 weeks without Rugby here, seems like an eternity! In that time we have won away at Henley, and last week’s marvellous Cup victory against National 1 Manchester has set up an away tie against our other local rivals Esher on Sat 7th Feb in Round 5 of the EDF. I was hoping for a plum home draw v London Welsh, but Esher is a cracking draw, and as the visiting team we are entitled to 40% of the gate, we will benefit financially from the Cup run.
We now enter a busy time, as there is much to condense into the last 3 months of the season. Games and events come thick and fast and the staff are stretched to the limit. From matchdays, to Burns, to Tnternationals, to Calcutta Cup day, to End of Season Dinner and of course planning for next season – there is much to be getting on with.

Welcome all to today’s game versus Barking and all guests for Christmas Lunch in the members bar. It seems a little early to be wishing a Merry Christmas to all London Scots on 6th December, however it is our final home league fixture before the festive period, so we thought it would be an appropriate occasion.
I’d like to welcome and thank all today’s sponsors. Neil and Yasmin from Saudex Global, Nigel and Martin from Steljes, Ian and Bryan from H&M Security and Clydesdale who are attending today along with all London Scottish supporters.
We are only just recovering from Tuesday night, as we celebrated St Andrews Day with our annual Hall of Fame Dinner in town, with 300 guests and a host of rugby greats. Ian McGeechan, Shaun Edwards, Frank Hadden and Gavin Hastings were on form with the Q&A, Jill Douglas presented the evening and Mike Campbell Lamerton, Al McHarg and Paul Burnell were emotionally inducted into the Hall of Fame. All the 1 XV team were there and a great time was had by all – however one main request is for Jim Kelly to wear something under his kilt in future, he put me right off my Cranachan!

2008 has been such a busy year with massive changes and development at the club. We are in a great position and look forward to success in 2009. I would like to salute my team in the office of Buffy, Helena and Louise who have been awesome and help to provide the platform for the players to make a real success of developing this club. Long hours and huge dedication – it is a pleasure to work with these guys so be sure to buy them a Cinzano in the bar if you see them!
Have a great day and come on the boys. |
