Performance Pathway

The aim of the Performance Pathway at London Scottish is to give aspirational rugby players the opportunity to progress to the Championship or the highest level they possibly can achieve in their rugby.

The pathway is essentially an opportunity to develop in a performance environment through a focused training and playing programme. This is delivered by qualified and professional coaches, strength & conditioning coaches, team management and medical support.

The Performance Squad playing programme includes the English Championship and British & Irish Cup for the first team and also in high profile 2nd XV friendlies as well as U20 or U23 levels. Talented players will go through a process of playing and training with the club’s Senior Men’s teams, and will get invited or selected to train with the Performance Squad when they have demonstrated that they are ready through their behaviours, effort, understanding and ability.

The club’s first team squad is a combination of full time, part time and aspirational players. The second team, the Highlanders forms part of this performance squad. We are aiming to create a high standard and depth within the club’s performance pathway at senior level. Leading into the performance pathway is our junior academy and underneath that we are building our development pathway through a healthy minis and juniors development programme which includes initiatives like our MacAttack! Skills Passport, our Skills School, our Rugby and Multi-Sport Camps and underpinning it with sound and innovative coach education.
